Leading change with Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga
For nearly 40 years, Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga (TTOH) has been a cornerstone of community support across the Heretaunga Plains, serving over 18,000 whānau. With a dedicated team of close to 500 kaimahi, TTOH provides a comprehensive range of services aimed at enhancing health, wellbeing, housing, and community life. From clinical services like GP clinics and dental care to mental health, addictions support, housing, justice, whānau ora and youth services, TTOH has the capacity and expertise to deliver integrated services to whānau in their rohe.
“We support whānau with anything they may need. There’s not many things that we’re not tied up in, but that’s so that we can offer holistic support to whānau,” says Te Riwa Graham, General Manager of IT at TTOH.
Te Riwa has been with the organisation for 10 years and leads a team of seven. Her team is responsible for providing the tools, data, and IT solutions that support the service delivery staff. “My role is to lead our strategy, focusing on how IT and data can support the business needs and help us achieve our goals,” says Te Riwa.
In 2017, TTOH began integrating Recordbase into their operations to support their growing housing and non-clinical services. “We were recommended Recordbase by another organisation, and at that time, we weren’t using any systems for housing management. The Wild Bamboo team came down to train all of our staff, and we developed a great relationship with them,” says Te Riwa.
Te Riwa and her team appreciated the hands-on support from the Recordbase team, noting how accommodating and responsive they were during the onboarding process. “They were very supportive,” she says.
Today, Recordbase is used by TTOH’s frontline staff, playing a crucial role in managing their non-clinical casework.
The shift from Excel spreadsheets to Recordbase was a significant change for TTOH. "Recordbase has been a huge improvement to the way we operate," Te Riwa explains. "It’s an excellent case management system, and having PRIMHD functionality is an added bonus. We have other systems in place because our organisation has such complex requirements, but Recordbase is our preferred choice for non-clinical work.”
Te Riwa also highlights how Recordbase’s API capability has greatly improved TTOH’s growing operations. “A few years ago, when we started up our warehouse, Recordbase was one of the only vendors able to provide an API connection into our warehouse. This has allowed us to create our own visualisations and reports through our Business Intelligence team.”
Te Riwa’s experience with Recordbase has been overwhelmingly positive. “The Recordbase team is fantastic. We’ve done several migrations from other systems to Recordbase, and the team has been incredibly helpful throughout the process,” she says. “It’s also always a pleasure to see them at events and in the community. The people I’ve worked with have always provided great service, with no issues at all. I am a strong advocate for Recordbase and believe it should be the preferred system for organisations like ours.”
