
A tailor-made solution for Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa
Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa is a for-purpose organisation that supports the oranga (holistic wellbeing) of tāngata whaiora and whānau through a broad range of mental health and addiction, disability, housing, and wellbeing services across Aotearoa. With roots dating back to 1978, the organisation has since expanded to meet growing demand, providing wraparound support to thousands of tāngata whaiora and whānau across the continuum of care (primary, community and residential).
Systems Specialist Simon Hughes, acts as a bridge between the service delivery and IT teams, bringing insights from his firsthand experience in service delivery to the IT team’s work with Recordbase. 'I’ve been with the organisation for several years in various support and management roles utilising Recordbase, and always looked for ways to optimise its use."
Simon works across many teams, especially with business intelligence reporting and service delivery, to ensure Recordbase provides flexible and seamless support to tangata whaiora and whānau across Emerge Aotearoa.
His role focuses on improvement initiatives, including training teams on using Recordbase effectively and pulling reports to make data-informed decisions. Quarterly contractual reports and ad-hoc reports play a big role in operations, so having all data centralised in Recordbase is beneficial.
“Sometimes we have a need for more customised reports. While the ready-made reports in Recordbase are helpful, if it’s a complex report involving large data sets that need slicing and dicing, it’s often easier to request a custom report, which the Wild Bamboo team have been helpful with. We’re looking into doing more of these to improve our reporting.”
A strong relationship with the Wild Bamboo team has been key to Emerge Aotearoa’s success. Regular meetings with Wild Bamboo cover operational and governance topics and include health checks to ensure Recordbase is being used to its full potential. “These catch-ups help us identify any pain points, plan for what’s coming up, and ensure we’re well-supported. It’s great to have a high-contact relationship, so we know exactly who to reach out to with questions,” Simon says.
